Tips to Diagnose Engine Problem

Signals from The Smoke:
A car can emit smoke either from the front or back and both are not good. The coloured smoke can come from the exhaust pipe and thus indicating the problem. If blue smoke is emitted from the car then it indicates that oil is absconding from its designed pass way within the engine and is being burned with the fuel in the engine. You can always insert engine oil to the crankcase in order to prevent it from burning. If white smoke is emitted from the car then the water condensation or the antifreeze of the car has been mixed up with the fuel supply. You can put in coolant or antifreeze to your car’s cooling system as it will prevent your car from overheating as long as you do not forget to feed the reservoir. In both the cases it would be wise to get it repair before it gives you much problem. If the smoke is coming out from the hood then you must have ignored the white smoke that is coming out of the tailpipe and now your engine of the car is overheated.

Soiled  Smell
A car never tends to have a good smell because constantly gasoline or diesel fuel is burning under the hood which is made of metal. If an automotive smells then it is likely to trouble the passenger. The bad smell may be the signal for you that indicates leakage of the oil or coolant from their normal closed-loop systems or it can also indicate that dangerous exhaust gases are invading your car’s interior. Cars tend to contain toxic gases such as carbon monoxide so if the smell comes out inside of your car so you must get your car fixed and repaired. If the smell is burning of the rubber then it indicates that you did an awesome smoky burnout or it could even indicate that your drive belts or the accessory belts below the hood is either damaged, loosen or worn out. This could also mean that a rubber hose that is likely to carry important fluids is touching something that it should not touch or something that is too hot and thus melting the rubber. In such case you must get it repaired before much more crucial and expensive component is being damaged.

Rude Noises
A tapping or popping sound from the engine may indicate that detonation taking place within the engine’s cylinders. Such things are likely to happen when gasoline catch up fire too soon in the combustion chamber of the cylinders and that can potentially result in expensive damage of the piston. If you listen grinding noise while starting your car then it indicates that your engine motor requires adjusting or replacing. If you listen grinding sound while shifting the gear then it could indicate that the transmission of the car needs to be replaced. If you are in doubt about listening to the sound then you must try to track down the place from where the noise is emitting and it will help you to say it clearly to the professional mechanic.

Jerking of The Car
Doing the jerk is not about any dance but it is the jerk of the car which is much less cool. While driving the car it must be free from any kind of jerking, surging, or stalling. Your car driving must be smooth and easy just like a ballet dance. If your car tends to pop or lock then it is the strong sign of your car engine being in trouble. This could be due to fouled spark plugs or clogged fuel lines or fuel filter or the main computer reading in the driving situation may be wrong or there are many other issues about jerking of the car. You must take preventive steps in order to maintain your car such as regular oil changes and belt replacements at regular intervals would help you to keep your car out of the danger zone.

Warning Lights
If the lights of the car is does not turn off then it is really bad. Whether it is too bad or slightly bad is likely to depend on which light remains lit. The lights of the car are likely to get linked up with the sensors which monitor everything your car does. If something gets damaged then the computer of the car will use these lights to tell you what it is. The lights that requires your attention are

•        Low Oil Level
•        Low Oil Pressure
•        Check Engine

If the light of the engine check is likely to give you much trouble then it could indicate different things such as you did not screw the gas cap tightly or you need to look out for pistons that are flying through the hood and into the stratosphere. One of the easiest ways to find out what the light is telling you is through a scan tool. This tool is likely to look like an oversized calculator and is likely to plug into communication port inside the car. After giving the instruction it is likely to prompt with the cars computer and is likely to find out what is prompting exactly for the lights to turn on.
