Change of oil and filter means to release out the old motor oil from the vehicle and replace it with new motor oil. As the other parts of the vehicle need to change in the similar way oil filter also requires replacement. Change of the oil in the vehicle is very important because it will prevent you to go the mechanic frequently. When to replacement of new engine oil depends on various factors such as the way you drive and age of the engine, the environment you drive in and stop-go vs. highway driving.
Instruction from your owner’s manual recommends changing the oil and filter of the vehicle from 3,000 to 10,000 miles but we would recommend you to change the oil and filter of your vehicle every 5,000 miles. It may seem too early for some people and too late for the others but it would be best if you change the oil within 5,000-mile as it will help your engine to last long. You may change the oil more often if do such things with your vehicle:
• Drive your vehicle like a knucklehead: jack rabbit starts or you tend to be driving it with heavy acceleration or high-speed condition.
• The resident of such place where the climate is either too hot or too cold
• Drive on the dirt road.
• If the engine of your vehicle is old which burns more oil
• You carry heavy loads in your vehicle
You need to change the oil because engine operates in high temperature after long run; in this situation your engine oil becomes less lubricant as normal. If the oil is bad as a lubricant then the parts of the engine is likely to rub together and thus causing to wear out each other. The engine oil is likely to contain some additives which help to neutralize the acids. More use these additives, stop being effective. Oil easily absorbs water, dust and combustion which help them in suspension. In due course the oil gets soaked with the stuff and cannot absorb any more. Thus the stuff is likely to remain in the engine and causing corrosion.
If you change the oil of the engine then the engine of your vehicle would last long. Clean oil is likely to serve many important functions in the engine such as prevents the wear and tear of the engine, provides a better lubricant to the parts of the engine etc.
It is very important to check the oil level every hundred miles. When you park your car on the level surface then remove the oil dipstick, clean it and reinsert it in the vehicle. You can even remove it again to check the oil level. If you run your vehicle on low oil then you may also notice a leak in your vehicle or may be burning oil. These are signs that tell you that you need a mechanic to repair your car soon.
